Many of our clients require our trades to have security clearances to work on their job sites. They may require a criminal background check (CPIC) that is less than 6 months to one year old or other forms of security clearance-Ontario Public Service Security Clearance (formerly referred to as MGS Clearance). The Government of Ontario security clearance (obtained through the Ministry of Government Services and referred to as OPS clearance) is required for all trades interested in working on Infrastructure Ontario projects (Government of Ontario properties). Many companies think that they will obtain this clearance after being awarded a job. Unfortunately, this is not the situation. Usually the amount of time between the award of the project and start date is not enough to have your staff security cleared. This means that you need to have applied for or obtained your clearance at the time of submitting your quote.
For companies that have this clearance in place, please note that the process has changed as of November 30, 2013.
